i always get different answers when i ask this question, or i get answers that contradict with the people givin the answer.
i ask this to various forums online and they all end up saying, when your ready and you know the conciquences.
however, that obviously doesn't work much or isn't the truth when so many little kids are getting pregnant and aids are everywhere and everything else.. so seriously.

over the last couple of years i've been trying to experience activities and interests that would have been frowned upon when i was still a dub.one of the things that i've really developed a passion for is metal and hard rock, in particular metal really strikes a chord with me (pun intended).
i'm pretty much a big fan of almost anything metallica has done, i also dig a lot of the more recent groups like tool, a perfect cricle, sevendust, etc.. but there's still a lot of old school metal groups that i want to go back and listen to.
any suggestions on any good late 70's-80's metal bands?
These guys fit somewhere between punk and metal but should not be overlooked.
Sum 41 and Blink 182

Linkin Park is amazing. Such emotion writhing in both the music and lyrics. The synergy with the vocals and tempo. They get a lot of slack, some claim they only have one song. My complaint is there albums and songs are too damned short, the last album was a whopping 36 minutes and they filled the rest of the CD with web crap, videos and other useless garbage. I wonder how long they play for in concert.
Chris Cornell is awesome, his voice is so distinct. When I first heard Audioslave, I thought to myself, - didn't soundgarden break up? Always listening for anything new by them.
Queens of the StoneAge are great too, I thought that was a Dave Grohl side project, but he is not in it. lol
And Jet rocks too, don't know if they are metal though.

Stefanie - yeah System of a Down is amazing... Toxicity, Aerials and even Sugar are great songs.
Leander -
If you are a tool fan, they you will probably like
Rage against the Machine they kick almost as much ass as T00L.
Don't forget - Audioslave, Soundgarden and Foo Fighters(metal?)

Well, you mentioned my 2 favorite metal bands, both featuring maynard. Tool and a perfect circle. One that I really like and is not so 80's cheesy is Whitesnake. they had an edge to them at a time when most where opting for freaking power ballads. of course i think they did a ballad or two as well, but actually played metal. not sure if they count as metal, but linkin park kicks some serious ass with a fusion of grinds and positve vibes. and dont forget what i consider the fathers of all metal, jimi hendrix and led zeppelin

This sucks and points to the main problem most thinking people have with bush. He thinks he is above any law.
would you be an active witness or even an inactive one if you could change a few things?
for example: let's say the blood issue could be resolved, would you stay?
or if 1914 doctrine was dissolved or the disfellowshipping/ shunning view changed?
